"XR Xinrong Brand" PB-83 magnesite calcium based
mix is one of the monolithic refractories our company produces.
It is specially designed for the half-dry gunning to the easy damage
positions in converters.
The product uses internationally advanced scientific
batch composition. It uses the company's special product dead burned
magnesite & dolomite as raw material. After crushing, the raw
material is fully screened, size distribution controlled & blended
to homogeneous. The bond is a phosphorus salt based complex. Some
adequate amount of additive is added to raise up operation properties.
The product is composed of multi-size batch aggregate and high matrix
powder. Processing is strictly controlled. Quality is steady.
This product is mainly used in the positions
as trunnion & slag line of the converters. It is specially applicable
to gunning maintenance to magnesia carbon brick linings. The furnace
linings service life is remarkably raised up. Unit refractory consumption
& steel making cost is reduced. The target there-of reached
is economic benefit be increased.
This product gives high performance to high temperature
furnace over (1000-1400℃). Usage practice proves that adhesive
proportion can over 90%. The gunning course is firmly integrated
with the high temperature furnace walls. Peeling-off is not easy.
There is no harm to the original furnace wall brick faces. The gunning
course has a high bulk density, low porosity & a high strength.
Since the product is composed of aggregate of super quality dead
burned magnesite & magnesite dolomite, together with high matrix
powders, the slag resistance & erosion resistance are all good,
while residual proportion is idealistic.
Construction Requirement: The quality
of the gunning mix itself makes up the product's application property.
However, during gunning process, the amount of gunning, the pressure
of the compressed air & the proportion of water added, they
all play each a role of utmost importance go perform a good product
property. Gunning has to follow the principles of uniformity, rapidity
& shallowity. Non-uniform gunning or too thick gunning may cause
dropping off & per unit steel consumption is then increased.
The critical size of the product is 3mm. Extra additives are applied
to improve high performance. Therefor the rolling characteristics
are fine & adhesive proportion is high. The gunning machine's
working compressed air pressure is best to be 0.3MPa. A low pressure
may cause the gun blocked up or a low adhesive proportion, while
a high pressure may cause the material be reflected & there-of
wasted.

This product applies half-dry construction gunning.
It uses "Gun plus water mixtype gunning machine" method. The gunning
mix is brought by compressed air to the gun & be mixed with
water. The water added during gunning has to be in adequate quantity
to achieve the best result. Too less water may result in dry powder
which is detrimental to adhesion, while too much water may cause
the gunning mix flow & there-of chill the bulk stability &
structural density of the gunning layer. The control on water also
has very close relationship with the property of the gunning machine
& the requirement on the gunning course quality & thickness.
Usually water is controlled to be around 14%, but this does not
make a sweeping generalization. The operation shall feel its own
way into exploratory conclusions.
